Deerfield, Ill. – June 30, 2009 – Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc. [Fortune Brands, Inc. (NYSE:FO)], the leading American spirits company, is proud to announce that Cruzan® Single Barrel Estate Rum earned the highest ranking in the “Aged Rum” category at the Beverage Testing Institute’s 2009 Interview Review of Spirits. The premium rum scored the highest ranking in the category with a score of 96 out of 100 and received a Platinum medal.

Meant to be sipped and savored, Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum is aged five to twelve years in charred American oak barrels before being blended together in a single barrel for final aging, which creates the rum’s distinctive complex taste. The long and smooth finish consists of notes of oak, vanilla and dried fruit flavors.

 

In addition to the Platinum medal win, two other rums in the Cruzan portfolio received medals at this year’s competition. Cruzan® Black Strap Rum and Cruzan® Aged Dark Rum both took home Silver medals in the “Dark Rum” category with the Aged Dark also receiving a “Best Buy” distinction.
