Deerfield, Ill. – September 22, 2009 – Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc. [Fortune Brands, Inc. (NYSE:FO)], the leading American spirits company, is pleased to announce its top tequila honors from the 2009 International Review of Spirits. El Tesoro™ Paradiso® received the highest tequila score, a 97 out of 100, and was honored with a Platinum medal in this year’s competition conducted by the Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago, Ill. El Tesoro™ Añejo was also awarded with a Platinum medal and received a score of 96, the second highest score of the competition.

In addition, El Tesoro™ Platinum® received a score of 95 and a Gold medal. El Tesoro™ Reposado received a Gold medal with a score of 94. From the Tres Generaciones® line of tequilas, Tres Generaciones® Añejo was honored with a Gold medal and a score of 92.

 

Throughout the year, the tasting experts at the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) invite select members of the trade to join them as panelists in blind tastings of specific categories of spirits for the International Review of Spirits. Major and boutique spirits producers and importers from around the world and across the country participate in the competition. BTI uses a proprietary tasting methodology that assures accurate, repeatable results. Each product receives a score based on a 100-point scale and a tasting note.
